Ladies' 2XI vs Fareham 2

With a cold start to our Saturday morning (and our wimp shirts on) the 2's travelled away to Fareham.

From the off the match was high paced with the 2's eager for a win this week. After lots of attacking, hard work and close misses, it finally paid off around the 15 minute mark with a well worked goal created by slick passing from Roseanne, Sue and Brenda withnl Callie in the perfect position to slot it past Fareham goalkeeper and into the back of the goal.

Fareham came back at us quick with some skillful attacking plays but our defence were strong and took it in their stride as well as Elli in goal making some amazing saves on the line. Fareham had a disallowed goal from one of their attacks after the ball bounced off a Fareham players body and into the goal.

The second half started strong again for the 2's, with a well needed bit of energy from our half time jelly beans, we were in great spirit and hungry for another goal. We worked tirelessly, with lots of quick passing and running off the ball, pressing their defence hard which paid off with many scoring opportunities and short corners. Unfortunately we weren't able to make the most of these, just narrowly missing on the post a few times.

Fareham then had an attacking short corner, our defence ran out hard and put the pressure on them resulting in a lifted ball into Jo's knee. Luckily she's hard as nails! The team quickly switched positions around to accommodate the injury and got back to keeping Fareham out of the D.

The 2's kept the pace up and kept our shape, until the final whistle blew, with lots of quick subbing to keep our legs as fresh as possible for tomorrows match against Wimborne in the Hampshire Cup. Ending in a well deserved, hard fought 1-0 win against Fareham
