On a cold and frosty morning, the twos waited hopefully in their warm beds, ready to leap up and don our thickest wimp shirts if our game got the go ahead. Thankfully wimborne were up for some ice hockey, and thanks to Sue's recce the day before we were confident the pitch would clear. A little help from a dedicated man (not sure who?) and a yard brush meant that actually, the pitch was pretty good.
There was an excellent start from Southampton. The team pressed high throughout the first half and were rewarded in 23rd minute when Bernie passed the ball through to Brens who shot at goal, the keeper got a touch on it but Callie, on her debut was on hand to touch it home. Wimborne did not have a shot in the first half.
Both teams started the 2nd half at a fast tempo with chances being created at both ends. Some soton players got a bit maimed with hard hits finding our feet but we limped on. With less than 10 minutes to go Wimborne jumped on a chance where Elli made a great save from their first shot but the ball rebounded into the crowded circle where a Wimborne player was on hand to sweep it into goal. A really positive team performance after 6 weeks with Rosanne headlining as player of the match.
