Many clubs now run an inter-club competition where a league table is kept and teams are compared relative to performances within their own leagues/divisions.
As we’ve got no imagination of our own, we thought we’d steal such a good idea and started running it from the beginning of the 2000/2001 season. That year the mens 2nd XI ran away with the title being "championes" of their division. This year promises to be much closer.
(With thanks to Woking HC, whose idea we nicked)
4 points a win
2 points for a score draw
1 point for a no score draw
1 point for every 3 goals in a game
1 point for a clean sheet
Penalty shoot-outs are not taken into account; the score
after 70 minutes stands.
The points are then totalled and divided by the number
of games played to give an average per game.
Where teams’ average scores are level, then the team with
the most points with have the higher placing.
If teams are still tied, then total goals scored will
decide placings.
If teams are still tied, then the number of clean sheets
will decide placings.
If we can find an appropriate sponsor then you
never know, we could always have a trophy for the
end of the season.
