Following the death of our dear friend and champion of our sport, Roger Merry, we are delighted to see the deserving tribute in today’s edition (28/9/16) of the Daily Echo.
Roger peacefully passed away at home on 20th September following his battle with cancer, with his wife Sue by his side. He will be sorely missed by all of us at Southampton Hockey Club and those in our extended hockey family. Roger was a truly selfless man giving up his time on a Sunday morning for 30 years as well as several evenings each week to coach and support. His contributions have helped many enjoy the sport, keep fit, as well as instil excellent sporting values such as determination, courage and loyalty in the lives of so many youngsters. Our Club would not be as successful as it is, had it not been for Roger.
