I would like to introduce myself as the new Club Social Secretary, elected at last week's AGM in some what of a whirl! I'm very excited to be taking on the baton of keeping all of you entertained outside of the hockey pitch, and hope everyone's keen to get involved next season.

A little about me.....I'm Brenda Radford (was Kimber), currently a member of the Ladies 2XI, and also played mixed this year. I've been a member of SHC since I was 11 years old (so only a little while!) and bar university and a recent 4 year stint in London have been around the club since then. So hopefully a lot of you recognise me, and if not I'm sure I'll get to know more of you this season.

We're really keen to get more socials in the calendar so we can continue to integrate all sections of the club and build on the friendly, sociable club we've always been. These events don't have to be large and are not necessarily designed to make money for the club, more to create a great atmosphere and for everyone to enjoy themselves. So if anyone has any ideas please don't hesitate to let me know!

I'm going to kick the season off with a bit of fun. One thing I didn't mention in the section about me is that I am currently expecting my first child (no, I don't know how I got voted in as social secretary either), so we thought we'd run a bit of a baby sweep stake for fun, and maybe raise a bit of money. Rules: Half the money will go to the winner, half to the club. Winner will be decided in order of correct birth date, then those who have correct gender, then closest weight.
Hint: My due date is 24th December
