Junior Training Sessions

During the season (September to March / April) Southampton Hockey Club runs training sessions three days a week on the astroturf pitches at Southampton Sports Centre.

For ages 5 to 14 the best session to attend is Sunday mornings 9.00-10.30am, however this is also a session on Tuesday evenings for ages 10 to 14.  There are also sessions dedictaed to the Under 16 and Under 18 teams on Thursday evenings, however these players are also encouraged to join in with the Club sessions on Tuesday evenings where possible.  Simply ask around for Roger Merry and he will introduce you to people and help you get started.

2010 Training Schedule

  • Sundays - restarts on 5th September 2010
  • Tuesdays - restarts on 7th September 2010
  • Thursdays -restarts on 9th September 2010

Please check the calendar for further details of first and last sessions for the season, Christmas breaks and generally for what is going on within the Club.  If you have any doubts about training times please contact Roger Merry, who being the fountain of all knowledge, and our Director of Coaching, should be able to answer any quires.

Please arrive 15 minutes early so that you are ready to begin training at the times set out below.

The training timetable is as follows:

Tuesdays

  • 6.00-7.00 Junior Goalkeepers
  • 6.00-7.30 Junior Training (10-14 girls and boys)
  • 7.00-8.00 Senior Goalkeepers
  • 6.45-7.30 Club Fitness
  • 7.30-9.00 Men’s and Ladies Club Training
  • 7.30-9.00 Men’s and Ladies 1st and 2nd XI Squads (by invite)

Thursdays

  • 6.00-7.30 U16 and U18 Training (girls and boys)
  • 7.30-9.00 Men’s and Ladies 1st and 2nd XI Squads (by invite)
  • 7.30-9.00 Ladies and Men’s Tactical Training (by invite)

Sundays - restarts 5th September 2010

  • 9.00am-10.30am Junior Training Aged 5 to 14 (girls and boys)

 

As a minimum, to attend training sessions you will require trainers, suitable sports clothing and have wet weather gear available when necessary.

It is highly recommended that you wear shin guards and a gumshield at all times and that you have plenty of drinks available.
