"Located in the middle of a sprawling metropolis, the Southampton Sports Centre is a haven of peace and tranquility where you can forget the stresses of day to day life and surround yourself with trees." Hmmmm. Southampton Sports Centre's got 2 astro pitches, relaid only this summer, 5 (admittedly rather small) cricket pitches, a full size running track, tennis/netball courts, football pitches, a crazy golf course, a crown green bowls lawn, and a rather bizarre pond.
We play all of our home matches on the two Astroturf pitches at the centre which are brand, spanking new. Luckily the centre is well signposted, but here's some short directions.
From the M3
Keep on the M3 following the signs for the A33. You'll reach a roundabout. Straight over that onto The Avenue (A33). Travel down The Avenue, appreciating the traffic, until you reach another roundabout. Take the second exit there (which should be signposted General Hospital and Sports Centre) onto Winchester Road (A35). Carry on that road until you reach another roundabout, take the third exit (right), again signposted General Hospital and Sports Centre. Head over the mini-roundabout attempting to avoid the traffic that will undoubtedly pull out in front of you, and follow that road round to the second car park. Park up and get yourself a beer.
From the M27 (East)
Get off at junction 5 (Eastleigh Airport) and follow the signs for Swaythling (A27) take the first right you can off that road (which, remarkably should be signposted Sports Centre) and head up that road. Follow it all the way until you reach a roundabout. Hang a left there and you'll be on the Avenue heading South, use the directions from the M3 above.
From the M27 (West)
Get off at junction 3 (M271) and head down the M271 towards the city centre. Take the next exit (after about 1/2 a mile) and take the first exit off the roundabout. Follow that road over the 3 major roundabouts in Lordshill and continue along that road until you go past the Woodman Public House on your left. Go down the hill and up the hill and you'll reach a mini-roundabout. Hang a left there and you'll be in the Sports Centre.
