History

Alright so these are never very interesting, so I've attempted to cut out as much of the dull stuff as possible. Some of it's still there though.

1933 The formation of Southampton Womens's Hockey Club.
1948 The formation of Old Tauntonians Hockey Club
1972 Joint venture in the running of the Southampton International Hockey Tournament, now in its 26th year.
1982 Southampton Women's Hockey Club move into the Old Tauntonians Clubhouse in Highfield Road.
1987 Joint use of training facility. Set up of junior hockey section.
1989 Southampton Women's Hockey Club becomes partners in the Old Tauntonians Sports Club.
1990 Joint programme of social events.
1991 Southampton Women's Hockey Club change colours in line with the men's section.
1993 Old Tauntonians men change name to Southampton Tauntonians Hockey Club to reflect the change in relations between the old school and the larger Southampton population. Joint negotiations start for the purchase of the lease for the 'Pub in the Park' as a new on-site clubhouse. This facility offers not only a clubhouse, but a business opportunity offering services to the public using the Southampton outdoor sports centre. This in itself offers football, cricket, netball, bowls, skiing, cycling, tennis, and hockey to the population of Southampton.
1994 Southampton Tauntonians drop Tauntonians from their name to provide hockey in Southampton under the corporate name of Southampton Hockey Club.
1995 Local netball and bowls organisations join negotiations for the lease of the 'Pub in the Park'. Mixed Hockey section formed.
1996 Possession taken of the 'Pub in the Park' and it is renamed 'The Sporting View'.
1999 Finalisation of plans with the Council to relay the astro-turf pitches at Southampton Sports Centre.
